Morel Energy Joins mHUB’s Compute-Energy Nexus Accelerator to Advance the Next Generation of Power Conversion for DC Data Centers
Working with mHUB’s industry partners in the data center and power generation sectors, Morel Energy will advance its DC power conversion product line towards commercialization.
Chicago, Illinois — October 7, 2026 — Morel Energy, a developer of ultrafast, ultraefficient power conversion products for DC data centers, today announced its selection into mHUB’s Compute-Energy Nexus Accelerator. The hardtech focused accelerator, and accompanying investment, will help enable Morel to demonstrate its first prototype.
mHUB is a leading hard tech incubator, and Morel will benefit from mHUB’s extensive on-site prototyping, fabrication, and testing capabilities. Morel will also be working closely with industry backers and mentors, including Equinix Foundation, CoreSite, Generac, Hewlett Packard Enterprise Foundation, Salesforce, and Marmon Holdings. Morel was one of 8 companies selected out of over 400 applicants. mHUB’s investment builds on earlier funding Morel Energy received from the U.S. Department of Energy’s Small Business Innovation Research grant program.
“Morel’s vision is to contribute to a world where AI Data Centers are less disruptive to local communities, less burdensome for the electric grid, and able to achieve better performance with lower emissions,” said Dave Oteman, Chief Executive Officer at Morel Energy. “We aim to do this by accelerating DC architecture datacenters with our novel DC power flow control technology that enables a new class of ultra-fast, ultra-dense batteries and fuel cells at AI Data centers.”
“We launched this cohort because AI demand is outpacing the electrical system’s capacity to serve it, and the solutions will be physical. Power conversion at DC data centers is an underappreciated bottleneck in that buildout, and Morel’s product line is a novel solution to improve how effectively on-site power can absorb AI loads,” said Ryan Fant, Executive Director of the mHUB Accelerator.
What’s next. mHUB’s proceeds and in-kind support will fund prototype build and testing over the next six months. Morel expects to demonstrate its novel power conversion technology in spring 2027.
